Driving in Australia – What you need to know

When you’re spending time in Australia and you decide to hire or buy a vehicle, there are a few things you should know. Firstly they drive on the left over there like we do in the UK so it doesn’t take long to get used to the roads. Secondly, you’ll need at least 2 spare tyres if you’re hitting the outback. Tyres can wear extremely quickly and you need to be familiar with changing your wheels, so practice first because it’s bound to happen at some stage. You’ll also need to make sue you have a medical kit handy with plenty of suncream in there, because you could be stuck in the blistering heat for hours and hours, waiting for a mechanic to arrive should something horrible go wrong. You’ll notice many of the vehicles in Australia are automatics and it could be a wise option for you because your clutch will certainly be put through its paces should you move from city to city.
